Assoc. Prof. Jing Zhao is an internal medicine doctor and Associate Director of TCM infectious diseases at the Institute of Basic Research of Clinical Medicine, China Academy of Chinese medical science (CACMS).
She has been working as a visiting professor at the UCLA Center for East-West medicine, University of California, Los Angeles from 2015 to 2016. Her clinical interests mainly focus on treating different chronic diseases with TCM or integrative medicine, including chronic heart disease, diabetes, systemic lupus erythematosus and cancers. Her research interests focus on disease prevention with TCM, especially infectious disease prevention, such as influenza.
She is also actively involved in research on the standardization of Chinese medicine. As an assistant reviewer, she has been working on the peer-review of the WHO ICD-11 Revision of traditional medicine since 2012. As a secretary of the TCM group, she was involved in the strategic planning of the Healthy China 2020 initiative.
For the past ten years, Prof. Zhao has conducted 5 research studies as principle investigator, published 6 books and over 20 articles. She has been two-time winner of the China National Science & Technology Award (2005, 2006), three-time winner of the National Academic Society Award (2004, 2005, 2015), and winner of the Science & Technology Awards of CACMS (2013). Prof. Zhao is also a reviewer of the Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine (English) and the Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Chinese), and is the deputy secretary general of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, osteoporosis committee.
